High school students from Oklahoma and Texas were in Tulsa on Saturday to learn about careers in medicine and health.
OSU's "Operation Orange" lets high school students from rural areas come and talk to med students and get hands-on experience during the one-day mini camp.
High schoolers learned everything from chest compressions to inserting breathing tubes and tying tourniquets.
Organizers say it's a way for students to try career paths that they may not have thought about.
"Coming here was a great opportunity to experience all the simulations and get to experience it personally and hands-on," said Texas high school student Ella Terry.
OSU says the program also helps address physician and health professional shortages in rural areas so that students can return to their hometowns after getting degrees.
"It's good recruitment but it's also nice to give them that drive that hey you can do this, it is achievable, it's not impossible, anybody can do it if they try hard enough," said OSU medical student Jordan Valenzuela.
