A summit is taking place Thursday in Tulsa to educate and empower fathers here in Green Country.
The founders of the Oklahoma Fatherhood Summit said they host this event to let fathers know they have an important part in the parenting process.
The event is open to fathers, mothers and caregivers. Founder Marquees Dennis and his team launched the first Fatherhood Summit in 2022.
Dennis said he understands the struggles fathers face and wasn't always aware of any resources to help navigate parenthood. He believes other fathers may face the same challenges.
The event will include nonprofits that work directly with fathers, mental health services, and other groups that equip parents or guardians with the proper tools to be successful.
Dennis said he wants people to leave feeling informed and empowered.
“There’s a lot of fathers that are out there swimming in the middle of the ocean trying to figure out, 'Where do I turn? Where do I go?' And this will be a prime opportunity for those dads and others to be able to share those resources and say, 'Hey, I know a place,'" Dennis said.
The Oklahoma Fatherhood Summit will be at the Tulsa Tech Lemley Campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 14. You can register onsite.
