Oklahoma State linebackers Nick Martin and Collin Oliver have been named to the 2024 Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list, as announced by the Football Writers Association of America. The Nagurski is awarded each year to the best defensive player in college football.
Among 75 defensive players recognized, OSU is one of 15 FBS teams with multiple players on the list. Alongside Iowa State and Arizona, the Cowboys lead the Big 12 with two honorees, which had a total of 12 selections.
Martin, a first-team All-Big 12 player, made a significant impact in his starting role last season. He recorded 140 tackles, the most for a Cowboy since 1984, and led the Big 12 in sacks by a linebacker. His 83 solo tackles were the highest among Power Five players, and he ranked 20th nationally with 16.0 tackles for loss.
Oliver, a veteran with three all-conference selections, was named second-team All-Big 12 in 2023. He has played in all 41 games since joining OSU and ranks fifth in career sacks (22.5) and ninth in tackles for loss (38.5). Last season, he matched Martin with six sacks and forced four fumbles, tied for third in the FBS.
Additionally, offensive linemen Joe Michalski and Dalton Cooper were added to the Outland Trophy watch list, and Gordon was recognized for the Maxwell Award.
Finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be announced on November 20, with the winner revealed on December 9 at the awards banquet in Charlotte, N.C.
