EMSA said its medical heat alert will remain in place through at least Friday after medics responded to four heat-related calls by 4 p.m. on Aug. 6.
Still, the heat is not keeping the crowd away from Southern Hills Country Club for the U.S. Women's Amateur tournament.
Places with shade have been popular spots for people to cool off.
Everyone News On 6 talked to said they have been intentional about how much water they are drinking and when they are taking breaks.
The heat is the hot topic at Southern Hills Country Club.
That is why there is water at every hole and in every golf bag for the 124th U.S. Women's Amateur.
The tournament has 156 golfers from around the world.
Everyone from Oklahoma State's Lucy Darr to University of Florida's Maisie Filler are staying hydrated all week.
"8 or 9 at least water bottles a day, and then I drink Gatorade between that too to get some electrolytes,” said Filler.
Filler said she is grateful to have a morning tee-time on Tuesday compared to playing in the afternoon on Monday.
"I'm definitely not as tired,” said Filler. “We were laughing in our group yesterday because we were all a bit delirious toward the end yesterday because it was so hot."
Ron Green from New York is staying in the shade before he caddies for his daughter, Melanie Green.
"Hopefully, she hits it on the right sides of the fairway, so I can stand in the shade while she's hitting her next shot,” said Green.
The United States Golf Association said it has been planning this tournament for two years and knew August in Tulsa was going to be hot.
"We also have a medical team on site if we get to that point, but we feel very well prepared, and the girls will be in the best shape possible,” said Rachel Sadowski, director of the USGA Women’s Amateur.
Everyone is excited and trying their best to take on the long week ahead.
"I'm just going to take it day by day and make sure I stay hydrated and take some naps,” said Filler.
Organizers said they also have volunteers going around in golf carts to check on people for heat exhaustion.
