Three people were arrested Tuesday morning following a chase that ended in a standoff in southeastern Tulsa, police say.
Tulsa Police said the chase began around 12 a.m. when officers in Sand Springs tried pulling over a driver, who then led police on a chase into Tulsa. According to TPD, the chase was terminated but the Tulsa Police Helicopter tracked the SUV to the vacant Fountain Square Condominiums near 17th and Lewis.
Police say three people who were in the vehicle involved ended up in a Tulsa neighborhood near East 15th Street and South Lewis Avenue. TPD then said the three suspects got out of the vehicle and ran away., eventually breaking down the back door of a home in the area and hiding inside.
Investigators on the scene said that the home turned out to be vacant, and the suspects refused to come out.
"We were able to utilize pepper balls to apprehend two of the people that ran into the building," TPD Cpt. Shawn Kite said. "A third individual was not willing to come up. After advising him we were going to use a K9, we were able to apprehend him with a K9."
Police said it took about an hour and a half to get the suspects out of the home.
All three suspects are now in custody. One suspect was treated for dog bites on scene and taken into custody by Sand Springs Police.
