Sunflowers are creating a picture-perfect backdrop in Catoosa.
The Catoosa Sunflower Farm has about three weeks left in its season.
The sunflowers are grown in the front yard of Ashton Baker's home. "It was a spur of the moment idea from my husband and myself," she said.
The golden blooms are a symbol of her childhood. "I grew up around sunflowers in my grandpa's backyard," Baker added.
A memory she wanted to create for her kids as well.
"My kids love sunflowers," Baker continued saying. "So, we just thought let's plant some sunflowers and take up some of the space in our yard."
The Bakers do all the planting, fertilizing and watering themselves. It is hard work, but a beautiful reward they have now shared with the community for three seasons.
"We just thought we should open this up to the public to see who else can take advantage of this," said Baker.
This year, she said they planted 20,000 sunflowers, and it has been their busiest season yet.
"We have people book an appointment; they come out here, they walk around, they enjoy the flowers, they will take their own pictures, or we have photographers that will book an appointment and bring all their clients out here and do some sunflower sessions and produce some beautiful pictures," said Baker.
Catoosa Sunflower Farm also has a pasture 4 miles away that photographers can book with open land, mature trees, a large pond with a rustic aluminum jon boat, tall golden grass, a tree swing, hay bales, and wildflowers in the spring and summer.
To book an appointment, visit their website. The farm is located at 9204 Pine Street in Catoosa.
