A Green Country family's home burned down in Hominy Wednesday where everything was lost, including the 11 dogs they rescued.
Now they're starting over. Analea Nelson says the hardest part wasn't losing her kids’ baby pictures or her wedding dress but removing her dogs from the debris and burying them, but she says that won't stop her from saving more dogs in the future.
Analea Nelson was driving home when she saw smoke in the distance.
“I was on the phone with my husband and I'm like oh my gosh I hope that's not our house and he was like babe you're probably overreacting and I pulled into our drive to our house completely engulfed in flames,” said Nelson.
Nelson says her home had 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, a deck, and a place for her passion.
“It provided a safe haven for our animals,” said Nelson.
The destruction is still there, and there is still smoke coming from the debris.
“This I can look at it will be cleaned up, we'll rebuild eventually we don't know how, when, or any of that,” said Nelson.
But She says nothing can replace her 11 dogs.
“The hardest part for me was finding my babies … what's left of my babies, picking them up, and giving them a proper burial,” said Nelson.
Nelson has been rescuing dogs for almost two decades. She says this won't stop her family from continuing to save animals.
“My husband said that our story's not over we will continue to rescue dogs … when God is ready for us to move forward he will bring them to us,” said Nelson.
Nelson says she is working to build outside kennels to start rescuing again, and then will start planning to rebuild her home.
