Even though we're only about a month into the new school year, several districts across Oklahoma are reporting hoax threats all over social media.

State Superintendent Ryan Walters issued a statement on Tuesday saying there is no place for threats of violence toward schools, teachers or students.

He says his office is making sure districts have the resources they need to keep students safe.

Several districts like Jenks, have emailed parents, warning them of the fake threats and asking people not to spread them on social media.

Full statement:

“These threats will not be tolerated. The safety of our students is my highest priority, and our agency is coordinating efforts with local districts and law enforcement. We are making all resources available and will continue to work closely with our partners to ensure our students’ safety and security.”
