The Owasso Education Foundation (OEF) has been supporting the Owasso School District’s educators since its establishment in May 1990.
Grant Killion, OEF president, and Kristin Duggins, event chair, discussed the upcoming fundraiser and its significant impact on local schools on the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch.
The foundation was founded by a group of civic-minded citizens inspired by former Oklahoma Gov. David Boren’s Educational Excellence Program. Its mission is to provide funding for innovative teaching tools and techniques that go beyond traditional school budgets.

Through its signature “Grants-to-Teachers Program,” the OEF has distributed nearly $500,000 in grants over the years.

Initially, all the money raised through fundraisers went directly to grants. Today, the foundation allocates 70% of its annual net earnings and 100% of endowment interest income to support teachers.
One of the OEF's major fundraisers, "A Night At Cain’s," will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2. Attendees can enjoy live music, dinner, drinks, and a silent auction, along with various activities throughout the evening at Cain's Ballroom.

Supporting teachers in Oklahoma remains crucial, according to the foundation, as schools play a central role in the community. OEF’s efforts aim to equip educators with the resources needed to foster innovation, address disparities, and strengthen classroom experiences for students.
