For a large part of the workforce, a traditional nine-to-five day at the office is not an attractive option.
Tulsa Remote is bringing a two-day event designed to bring together top experts and thought leaders in remote work to help people understand the evolving landscape.
Tulsa Remote's Justin Harlan joined News On 6 at 4 p.m. on Wednesday to talk about the event.
Who is the Plugged In event for?
Justin: This is the inaugural remote work summit that Tulsa Remote is hosting. It's Oct. 16 and 17th at The Living Arts of Tulsa. We've heard a lot of feedback over the last year from our remote work community that we really all kind of got thrown into this remote work thing overnight, almost where we didn't build up those skills that we needed in order to be successful in our jobs. And so we've heard some of the most you know, pertinent pain points for folks on the job day to day. How can we address those through sessions, and networking workshops, by bringing in some of the remote work experts from all across the country to help all Tulsans who are working remotely learn how to be better at this and really help Tulsa become a remote work Learning Hub across the country.
What can people expect from the Plugged In event? How popular is remote work?
Justin: It's definitely here to stay. You know, hybrid is definitely the course of action that most employees are adopting. Our employers are adopting, but still, so many working remotely. And so this is going to be really relevant for anybody who's in that remote or hybrid setting. There will be sessions. A couple of examples are ones that focused on, like, how do we attract and retain and maximize the talent of Gen Z? That is like, how do I be visible to my boss and colleagues within a virtual setting? Another one is, how do we get these monsters or the meeting monsters out of our lives and still promote collaboration and connection? So really, thought leaders from across the country coming in and hitting on those topics that I think will be relevant for everybody, networking opportunities over meals and happy hour as well as a pop-up co-working space, so a place for you to go and take the meeting in between sessions, or hop on a zoom if you do need to get work done. So it's kind of a come-and-go environment. We're also allowing for other work to be done in the setting as well.
How can someone attend this event?
Justin: It is free for everyone, sign up now at the link HERE.
