The Tulsa Day Center will host its seventh dinner comedy show on Friday, October 18 featuring comedians from all over.
Lacee Rains, the organizer of the event, stopped by the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to talk about the event.
Rains has been organizing these comedy dinner events for about four years, with the first show held in February 2023. The shows aim not only to provide a warm meal but also to create a sense of community and connection among attendees.

This year, she has gathered comedians who will donate their time and talent to help prepare, transport, and serve 125 hot dinners to shelter guests. Dinner will be served at approximately 5:30 p.m., followed by a comedy show designed to entertain and uplift attendees.
In addition to the dinner shows, Rains organized a recent event titled "Panty Raid" at the Whittier Bar, which encouraged attendees to bring donations of new underwear for the shelter. The event featured local poets, two bands, and several comedians from the Blue Whale Comedy Festival, successfully raising awareness and support for the shelter.

Rains emphasized the importance of the dinner shows, noting that while they may not create long-lasting impacts, they provide immediate support by feeding guests and bringing laughter to the evening.
For an hour and a half, the multipurpose room at the Tulsa Day Center transforms into a comedy club, fostering a relaxed atmosphere where guests can engage and connect with the performers. Rains has even witnessed shelter guests take the stage to share their own comedic talents.
For those unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed on Instagram @discountgoblins. The dinner comedy show promises to be an evening of joy, connection, and community support for all involved.
