Thanks to fall break, most of our Green Country high school football teams hit the field Thursday night for their Week 7 games. From Class 2A, Metro Christian is a perfect 6-0 on the year, all while allowing a total of 40 points up to this point. The question: Could Central crack the code? The Patriots hosted the Braves for Week 4 of district play.
In the first quarter, it’s 7-0 Patriots. Kincayde Eng steps back and finds Cooper Mitchell—house call for Mitchell—75 yards down the sideline, touchdown Metro, 14-0.
Defense was the star of the show, with four interceptions in the first half. One of them was a one-handed snag by Kaeden Goodman, giving the Patriots the ball on the 21-yard line.
In the second quarter, he can do it all—why not a one-handed grab down the sideline?—and in for the touchdown. Goodman is showing how good he is with his hands—35-0.
The Patriots scored on six of their seven possessions in the first half. Mitchell found gaps, and the ball was knocked loose just inside the ten; Nate Jackson was there to recover the touchdown.
Metro Christian wins it, 42-8.
