Anthony Russell, 31, is being held on a $1 million bond after being accused of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 35-year-old Tasha Shepard.

Shepard was found near a bus stop around midnight on Wednesday after being shot in the back of the head.

A man riding a bicycle discovered Shepard and ran to a nearby fast-food restaurant for help.

Investigators say phone records indicate Shepard had been texting with Russell about meeting up and where he would pick her up. Russell reportedly told her he would be driving a BMW.

Surveillance footage from the area shows Shepard and Russell inside his vehicle about 10 minutes before the shooting.

Additional video shows Russell dropping her off approximately one minute before a witness heard a gunshot.

Police say the BMW is seen in the surveillance video and they traced the number in the text messages back to Russell.

Tulsa Police and the department’s Special Operations Team served a warrant at Russell’s home and took him into custody. He is expected to appear before a judge today.
