Yoga has many benefits, and one Tulsa organization says it can help those who are dealing with trauma.

The Humble Warrior Collective started a class for veterans as a way to help with PTSD.

Jeremy Founds finds stillness through movement on his yoga mat.

Every Wednesday the VFW Post 577 turns into a dimly lit space for veterans like Jeremy and his service dog Crypto to practice yoga.

He served in the Marine Corps for six years and was deployed to Iraq during his service.

He says the gentle stretches and poses not only provide a good workout, but a chance to focus on exercising his mind.

"It helps with my anxiety, and when I am anxious also helps with depression. A lot of times when you feel like you are slipping into depression, you can always find things to be grateful for and things to fight that depression," he said. "It does take a little bit of mindfulness when things pile on. Yoga has kind of taught me and helped me not to do that."

He thinks other veterans could use yoga as a way to pause, too.

"It's a philosophy on how you can live your life, how you can look at things," he said. "It's not a religion or anything but it is a philosophy, and if you can apply that to your life it can help with a lot of the things that might be holding you back."
