Tulsa Police are investigating a shooting that injured two people early Wednesday morning in a restaurant parking lot near 41st and Sheridan. Officers say two suspects have been arrested and identified, and detectives are working to determine what led to the gunfire.

What Happened

According to Tulsa Police, two people were walking to their car after leaving Buffalo Wild Wings just before 2 a.m. when a red vehicle pulled up and someone started shooting. The victims were roughly 60 feet from the restaurant at the time.

One man was shot in the torso and taken to a hospital. Police say he is expected to survive. Another person was grazed by a bullet.

How Police Tracked the Suspects

Thanks to witness descriptions, officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby Whataburger. Tulsa Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol stopped the car and detained two men.

Police identified the suspects as Daniel Lopez and Jonne Padilla.

Lt. Katie Whitehead with the Tulsa Police Department said there’s no indication the victims and suspects had any prior interaction.

“According to the victims, they did not know the suspects and hadn't seen them,” Whitehead said. “According to the witnesses inside that work at the establishment, they didn't see them intermingling and had no problems.”

What Investigators Found

Police say a pistol was found inside the suspects’ vehicle. Detectives are working to determine whether it was the gun used in the shooting.

Sgt. Emily Michie added that multiple people are being interviewed as part of the investigation.

“We have multiple witnesses and from the friends of the victim and these two suspects,” Michie said. “And they are all going downtown for interviews.”

What’s Next

Tulsa Police said Lopez has been identified as the shooter and he's been arrested and accused of shooting with intent to kill. Padilla was identified as the driver and was arrested and accused of using a vehicle to facilitate a shooting. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
