Flooding closes multiple Oklahoma highways following heavy rain

State transportation officials report several highways and rural roads across Oklahoma are closed due to high water from the days of heavy rain.

As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) reports flooding has shut down routes in at least 10 counties, including parts of interstates, U.S. highways and state highways. Additional closures are possible as conditions change.

Below is a list of impacted roadways:

Tulsa County

1. SH-11 is closed between 76th St. N. near Turley and the Tulsa/Washington County line.
2. SH-20 is closed at Bird Creek just east of SH-11 near Skiatook.

Cherokee County

1. SH-80 is closed west of Hulbert.

Lincoln County

1. SH-18 is closed between Chandler and Meeker.

Okfuskee County

1. SH-48 is closed 1.5 miles south of I-40.

Okmulgee County

1. US-75A is closed at the railroad bridge north of Beggs.

Pittsburg County

1. SH-31 is closed between Industrial Park Rd. and Haywood Rd. near McAlester.

Pottawatomie County

1. US-177 is closed between SH-59 and SH-59B. A detour is available using eastbound SH-59B to northbound SH-9A to westbound SH-9 back to US-177.
2. SH-102 is closed north of SH-59B.

Stephens County

1. SH-29 is closed at Black Bear Creek near 13 Mile Rd.
2. SH-53 is closed east of Comanche due to flooding and downed power lines.

ODOT urges drivers not to attempt to drive around barricades or through high water.
