OWASSO, Okla. -

Construction is set to begin Monday, May 5, on a road widening project along 96th Street North in Owasso.

The project will stretch from North 119th East Avenue to the U.S. 169 overpass and is designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the busy corridor.

Work will include adding new through lanes along 96th Street and multiple turn lanes into businesses. Crews will also widen the entrance into the Smith Farm Shopping Center and the U.S. 169 off-ramp onto 96th Street. Additional improvements include the installation of new traffic signals, an asphalt overlay over the entire roadway, and fresh striping.

The city emphasized that all businesses along the route will remain accessible during construction.

The project is expected to be completed by early April 2026. Drivers are advised to expect delays and plan alternate routes when possible.
