Bargain hunters and collectors alike will have a chance to bid on everything from sanitation trucks to fingerprint analyzers during the City of Broken Arrow’s Online Surplus Auction, happening May 5 through May 27.

The auction includes a wide variety of city-owned items that have outlived their official use but could find new life in the hands of the public.

Exercise equipment, municipal vehicles, and other specialized tools are among the offerings. Because the total estimated value of the items exceeds $15,000, the Broken Arrow City Council was required to officially declare them surplus property.

Oklahoma law permits local governments to use online auctions for liquidating assets, and Broken Arrow officials say this method is both cost-effective and efficient.

The city has partnered with Purple Wave Auction to manage the event. Purple Wave will handle all listings, photos, and item descriptions, and the service comes at no cost to the city. A buyer’s fee included in each sale funds the company’s compensation.

A full list of auction items is available through the Purple Wave website and linked on the City of Broken Arrow’s official surplus auction page.

Items left unclaimed or unsold will be recycled or disposed of 60 days after the auction ends. Proceeds will benefit the City’s General Fund or Broken Arrow Municipal Authority Fund, depending on the origin of each item.
