ALTUS, Okla. (AP) -- Investigators say the death of a 14-year-old boy who was shot in the chest with a semiautomatic handgun was a tragic accident.  Altus Police Chief Michael Patterson says Malcom S. Augustine was shot on Sunday night. Augustine was at a friend's house with a group of friends when they decided to play with a gun, Patterson said.

Police responded to the home about 11 p.m., and emergency responders took Augustine to Jackson County Memorial Hospital, where he died. Patterson says adults were asleep in the house at the time of the incident.

Altus Police are investigating the death as an accident, and they don't anticipate filing charges. Patterson declined to identify the person who fired the gun because he is a juvenile.
