TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Former Air Force Lieutenant General and one-time Tulsan Kenneth Tallman has died at age 80 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Tallman spent 35 years in the Air Force and served as superintendent of the Air Force Academy before retiring in 1981. He then served as president of Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa and later moved to Florida.

Tallman was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He graduated from the US Military Academy in 1946 and was a fighter pilot.

He's survived by his wife, Jeanne, three children and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Tallahassee. Burial will be April 11th at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
