Two men who claim a connection to the Creek Nation apply for tribal citizenship.

The two men sued the Creeks and won after they were denied the chance to enroll. They both claim status as "Creek Freedmen" and have Creek blood. They won their case, and an order from the Creek Nation judge says their citizenship applications have to be considered under rules that their lawyers say should assure they qualify.

Earlier this month, the Cherokee Nation's highest court ruled the tribe must recognize descendants of black freedmen.
