Operation Cleansweep is underway in Tulsa. The annual spring trash collection event kicked off Friday.

It encourages residents to pick up litter in public places around the city such as right of ways and parks. It runs for a month.

Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune says if you can't help, at least remember this. “Our roadways are not your ashtrays and our hghways and parks are not your trash cans, we'll have a more beautiful city."

If you'd like to participate in Operation Cleansweep, you can call the Mayor's Action Line at 596-2100 for more information. They will also provide you trash bags.
