McALESTER, Okla. (AP) The McAlester City Council has decided to sell several dozen surplus street signs bearing the name of longtime state Senator Gene Stipe.

However, members decided the ``Gene Stipe Boulevard'' signs won't be sold on the Internet.

Instead, council members agreed to consider the signs city surplus, which means they can be sold like other surplus at an annual auction.

The city has stored about 60 signs since the street was renamed Electric Avenue in December.
