ENID, Okla. (AP) _ Authorities say the rising price for metal nationwide is leading to an increase in the theft of copper wiring in Oklahoma.

In a recent case the Garfield County Sheriff's Department says more than one-thousand feet of wiring was taken from a vacant home near Douglas.

Undersheriff Jerry Niles says all the outside wiring was taken.

Niles says older homes are the most likely targets because copper wiring was used in them before copper prices began rising.
