OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry is urging the state Legislature to approve a state endowment to help support research projects across the state.

Henry has scheduled an 11 AM news conference Wednesday with education officials and state business leaders.

The proposed endowment is part of the governor's 2006 legislative agenda.

Two years ago, a task force of public and private sector leaders appointed by the governor recommended the state establish a $1-billion endowment and earmark interest earnings for research.

A pending state Senate bill would define the structure of the research endowment.
