A brand new, state of the art neonatal intensive care unit opens at St John Medical Center.

The facility is one of only 25 NICU's like it in the country. One thing that makes it so special, is parents can bond with their new babies in one of 30 private rooms.

Jill Burger RN/NICU manager: "Research shows that if a family is very involved in the patient's care and their child's care, it can actually help the child to get well sooner."

Each room is also equiped with specialized temperature, sound and lighting equipment that help preemies develop.
