A Tulsa teenager accidentally shot in the neck by his own brother. It happened last month.

His prognosis wasn't good, doctors thought he would be paralyzed from the neck down. And his family was facing mounting medical bills, plus travel expenses to visit him at a special hospital in Oklahoma City, but Kejuan Taylor never lost faith.

News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims explains he proves miracles do happen.

A busload full of kids made the trip from Tulsa to Oklahoma City to visit a very, special friend.

13 year old Uauan Brown: "To see my homie, Kejuan."

These kids know Kejuan Taylor from their church youth group, Crossover, but they haven't seen him for a while.

Uauan: "When I first heard about it, I thought he was gone."

14-year-old Kejuan was accidentally shot by his own brother. The bullet severed his spinal cord, paralyzing him.

12 year old John McClennon: "its just hard cause you like think about if that coulda happened to you and how would you feel about it."

Too grown up a question for kids barely in their teens. But instead of shying away from their friend, there here for a big surprise.

Kejuan had a few surprises of his own. He's regained enough movement in his arm to power his wheelchair, it is not quite walking but it's progress.

Ashli Sims: So tell me what you can do?

Kejuan: "lift my arm."

Kejuan mother Mehnyon Taylor: "He's tried to feed himself. He's up, he's talking, he can drive the wheelchair now like its his own little motorcycle, like he's been in it for years. He's doing good."

And things are getting even better. The Shriners heard about Kejuan's story and they've agreed to pay for him and his family to go to a Children's hospital in Chicago.

Mehnyon Taylor: "I dont have to worry about anything. And its such a blessing because financially, we couldn't afford it. So this is truly a blessing and I'm very happy."

And for one night at least, Kejuan was just another kid at a pizza party. A kid with a flashy, new ride but a kid nevertheless.

Before they left, they all gathered around him to wish him well and pray for his journey.

Youth leader Jennifer Patterson: “Father, right now we just thank you, that we've been able to come be with Kejuan tonight, father. God we lift him up to you and we just pray that you continue healing him."

If prayers and determination helped move this arm, then the rest of him can't be too far behind.
