OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An Oklahoma City police dog is recovering from a gunshot wound after a shootout this morning between police and a fleeing man.

Oklahoma City police say the dog was treated for a single gunshot wound and later released from an emergency veterinary hospital.

Police were attempting to talk to a man about an earlier shooting when he jumped out of an apartment window and fled the scene.

Captain Jeffrey Becker says officers and the police dog pursued the man, and shots were exchanged. The man was apprehended, and police were questioning him about the shooting.

The earlier shooting happened about 1 o-clock this morning at a north Oklahoma City apartment complex. Becker says the victim in that shooting is in critical condition at a city hospital. His name hasn't been released.
