OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State officials say blood supplies at the Oklahoma Blood Institute are at critically low levels.

American Red Cross officials say donors are also needed before the Memorial Day weekend kicks off summertime.

Officials say one reason blood is in such a demand is that the upcoming holiday weekend usually has many vehicle accidents in Oklahoma and crash victims are in need of blood transfusions.

People who want to donate blood can call the Oklahoma Blood Institute for donor locations.
