CHECOTAH, Okla. (AP) _ The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the possible improper use of the Checotah mayor's city credit card.

Mayor J- Hayes says the OSBI is investigating just over $1,100 in charges to Hayes' card. Hayes says he didn't authorize or know about the charges, but has paid the city back.

Hayes says he thinks he knows who used the card but declined to name the person.

The charges were made to a cell phone company, a restaurant and an auto parts store.

The OSBI says a person who works with the city's finances notified police about credit discrepancies and police turned the investigation over to the state agency.
