One of the finalists to be Tulsa Public Schools’ next leader was back in town Friday for a second round of interviews.

Dr. Michael Zolkoski currently heads up Brownsville Public Schools in Texas. He has more than 20 years of experience as a superintendent.

Zolkoski says he likes Tulsa's commitment to the fine arts. And he counts TPS's diversity and the city's university system as strong points.

Zolkoski is under contract until 2008, but he says he's ready to leave Brownsville for new challenges. "We've built some schools; we just passed the bond issue; our test scores are up. We went from no national merits to 12. I just feel like I have an opportunity to take Tulsa to the next level."

Dr. Julia Earl from Nashua, New Hampshire is the other finalist. She's scheduled for her second round of interviews next Tuesday.
