OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A North Carolina congressman who questioned funding and attendance at the Oklahoma City bombing memorial visited the site Wednesday and says his statements were based on inaccurate information.

Representative Charles Taylor chairs the House appropriations subcommittee that oversees the Interior Department. He says he was impressed with the community's involvement in the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum and the public-private partnership that operates and funds it.

As he stood with memorial workers near the site of the Oklahoma City federal building, Taylor praised the operation and says the memorial's management could be used as a model for other projects that are seeking federal assistance.

But he stopped short of promising the memorial will get $2-million it is seeking.
