OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The last one-lane bridge in the state highway system is being replaced.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation Monday approved a contract to replace the bridge on State Highway 77 over Honey Creek, north of Turner Falls.

The nearly $1.2-million contract is being paid with federal funds.

A bridge is considered one-way if it's less than 16 feet wide, which allows just one car to pass over the bridge at a time.

ODOT officials say the agency recently replaced a dangerous one-lane bridge in Sequoyah County and construction is nearly complete on an old one-way bridge over Delaware Creek, north of Sand Springs.

Officials say there are numerous one-way bridges remaining on Oklahoma's system of county roads.
