OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma lawmaker wants to do all he can to help Oklahoma City become the temporary home of the NBA's New Orleans Hornets.

State Representative Joe Dorman says he's filed a bill that would provide state money to the city if it's successful in landing the Hornets.

The Rush Springs Democrat says conservative estimates show the state would receive a $9-million economic boost if the Hornets moved to Oklahoma City. He says the cost of moving the team to Oklahoma City should be minimal.

Oklahoma City is one of several cities looking to provide a temporary home for the Hornets, whose home city of New Orleans was battered by Hurricane Katrina.
