Imagine watching breaking news when you're not near a TV set. You’ll soon be able to do just that with your cell phone.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells shows the very latest thing is an Emmy winning technology called TV on the go. This could be the next really big thing, TV programs on the very small screen of your cell phone. A company called MobiTV along with Sprint-Nextel and Cingular Wireless is bringing entertainment, news, sports and more to cell phones.

Dave Whetstone with MobiTV: "Our service really allows people to watch TV wherever and whenever they want to."25 channels of live and made-for-mobile content directly to your phone.”

More than 60-million Americans own cell phones, so this is a new marketplace for broadcasters. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded an Emmy to MobiTV and Sprint for their TV-on the go technology.

Here's what you need to know. It's more expensive and you'll need a TV ready phone. This one is pricey, but you can get one for around a hundred bucks. You'll need the unlimited data plan and the TV service plan. Let’s say $25 to $30 in addition to your regular service.

Some critics have said the video can be choppy at times, although this phone has been pretty good. Not many folks are going to come home, sit down and watch their cell phones, but if you spend a lot of time in airports or sitting in line.

Here's something really exciting, an opportunity for you to get weather information directly from The News on 6 to your cell phone. We'll tell you more about when the Tulsa State Fair gets underway, so be sure and keep watching or stop by our booth at the fair to learn more.
