KOTV's Oklahoma Traveler Receives Enviromental Award

Scott Thompson, The Oklahoma Traveler, and News on 6 photographer Grant Gerondale have been honored by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, an environmental organization. In the organization's statewide competition, Thompson and Gerondale received top honors in the category News Media - Television Single Segment for "Wings of Gold," which followed the migration of Monarch butterflies to Mexico.

In awarding the honor to Thompson and Gerondale, competition judges noted in particular the series' accompanying Butterfly Guide which included information about butterfly-attractive plants. Nearly 10,000 guides were distributed in the weeks following the series' broadcast.

The Keep Oklahoma Beautiful award is the latest in a number of regional, state and national awards for both Thompson and Gerondale.
