The first day of standardized testing is over for students across Oklahoma. The tests are part of the federal No Child Left Behind Act and schools can be penalized if their students don't show continued improvement on test scores.

Teachers and school officials say they're trying to make the testing as stress-free as possible for students. Jenks School teacher Susan McClarty: "This is an important day. Sure the schedule may be different, that doesn't mean its party day. You sleep, you eat, get ready to do the very, very best."

Elementary and middle school students are taking their tests this week. High school end-of-instruction tests begin next week.
