(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The Democratic leadership in the Oklahoma Senate agreed Tuesday to hear a proposal for a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage.

The move cut short a filibuster on the issue.

Republican leader James Williamson said Democrats agreed to hear his proposal as an amendment to a bill later this session.
