(Bristow-AP) -- One person is dead after a high-speed chase Friday afternoon on the Turner Turnpike between Stroud and Bristow.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the driver of the fleeing car lost control and flipped over on the highway near Bristow.

The patrol says both people inside the car were thrown from the vehicle. One died. The other is badly injured.

The chase started when the driver sped away after a trooper pulled the car over for speeding. The trooper followed as the car exited the highway and raced through Stroud.

The patrol says the driver got back on the turnpike and lost control near the Bristow exit.
