Getting an early warning when severe weather is headed for you can make the difference between life and death.

The News on 6 Warn Team now has a new tool to keep you ahead of the storm. News on 6 anchor Terry Hood has the story behind this new cutting-edge technology. It's called Warn Max Radar.

It's got a new look, it's ten-times more detailed and it should help the Warn Team give you better warnings that severe weather is coming your way. Severe weather season is officially here.

To help keep you out of harm's way, The News on 6 Warn Team is upgrading their technology to provide you with better severe weather coverage. Jim Giles, News on 6 Chief Meteorologist: "There's been four major technological breakthroughs in the 20 years that I've been at KOTV we're seeing one of them come on line this year.”

Warn Max Radar is a high-definition display system that should give us an edge in tracking severe storms throughout Green Country. "We're better able to dissect the storm and see with greater detail exactly what's going on within the storm.”

Warn MAX Radar is more sensitive, so it can pick up on subtle changes in the storm.

"It's those things, it might see the changes in the storm, and possible rotation in the storm that maybe we couldn't see with other radars. Not only will they get better notice of storms developing and coming their way I think they'll be able to see that storm development a little easier with Warn Max Radar."
