An avid fossil hunter has made one major discovery, right here in Oklahoma. A rock with a fossil of a plant embedded in it was found near Lawton in southwest Oklahoma.

Scientists say the plant lived from 280-million to 350-million years ago. Officials believe what's embedded is a root belonging to a group of tree-like plants that grew 130-feet tall.

The discovery could shed new light on the prehistoric habitat of southwestern Oklahoma.
