It doesn't quite feel like summer yet, but many Tulsa kids are already looking forward to swimming in their neighborhood pools. Budget cutbacks kept many pools closed last year.

To make sure that doesn’t happen again this year, Tulsa Mayor Bill LaFortune introduced his Adopt-A-Pool program Monday.

The program is designed to get citizens and corporations to sponsor a pool so kids can swim this summer. Newblock Park's pool was closed last year. Members of Gold Bank and Royal Manufacturing are making sure it’s open this summer.

Kari Harris, Royal Manufacturing: "It's so important these kids may not have as much as other kids so, so it' something we can do for them they have an activity during the day."

Anyone interested in adopting a pool can call Tulsa Parks at 596-PARK, that's 596-7275.
