(Eufaula-AP) -- The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is preparing a report on its investigation into the shooting death of Eufaula City Councilman Larry Nichols.

OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the report will be given to the McIntosh County district attorney.

The body of the 67-year-old Nichols was found inside his home January 27th by members of his church. Authorities say he had been shot once in the head.

Police searched for two people in a pickup truck seen near Nichols' home, but acting Eufaula Police Chief Charles Hammett says the two have been eliminated as suspects.

Nichols had served on the City Council for about two months after being appointed to fill an unexpired term.
