The Tulsa County Health Department is on West Nile virus watch. The virus spreads to humans through mosquito bites.

Mosquitos get the virus from infected birds. Tulsa County is one of 27 counties statewide testing dead birds. Priority is given to blue jays, crows, cardinals, bluebirds, and birds of prey, including hawks, owls, falcons, and eagles.

If you find one of these birds dead on your property, call the Tulsa City-County Health Department at 595-4344.
