WASHINGTON (AP) _ DK Publishing Inc. is recalling some 214,000 children's books because sound makers on the last page pose a choking hazard to young children.

No injuries have been reported, but the New York company did receive a report of a 22-month-old boy who detached a sound device and put it in his mouth, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The cardboard books were sold under eight titles: ``Dinosaurs,'' ``Kitty's Adventure,'' ``On The Road,'' ``Puppy's Busy Day,'' ``Tractors,'' ``Trains,'' ``Emergency!'' and ``Trucks.''

The books were sold for about $8 from March 2001 through April 2004 at bookstores, gift stores, news stands, discount department stores and warehouse clubs nationwide, and through direct phone orders.

The government recommends taking the books away from children. Replacements or refunds are available by contacting the company at 800-505-4726, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. EDT.
