A concert milestone for one Tulsa school teacher. News on 6 reporter Rick Wells says a concert will be something very special for Memorial High School’s vocal music director.

"All right then ready for tonight." Memorial High vocal music director Dan Call is watching the final dress rehearsal, before his final concert. He's retiring after 30 years at Memorial.

The school’s Concert Chorus is rehearsing a medley from the Broadway hit "Hairspray." He likes what he sees. In 30 years he guesses he's worked with 2,000 to 3,000 kids. Taught them to share his love of all kinds of music.

He says he likes to challenge them with things that they think are impossible. "We go about doing impossible things together." There have been 21 masterworks concerts at Holy Family Cathedral, 30 of these spring concerts and all those all-school Broadway musicals.

Memorial High senior Sarah Morey: "We've been learning from him we've been pushed by him." Sarah Morey and Michael Harrison are seniors they've been in one or the other of Memorial’s choruses for four years so this is their last concert too. Michael says Dan Call has taught them much more than just music. "We've learned to do everything to the best of our abilities and not settle for second best in anything we do."

Call: "In education with these kids it's all about love respect and understanding." Love is a word you hear Dan Call use a lot. "I love you all and it's gonna be a great show tonight."
