College championship tennis swings into action this coming weekend at the University of Tulsa. 16 teams from all over the country will battle for the national title.

It's not only a prestigious event for TU, but will also boost the city's economy.

News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says the Michael D Case Tennis Center on the TU campus will have for the first time in the state, the NCAA Tennis Championship, but folks at the center donâ€™t think it will be the last.

Organizers say it's a top-of the line facility and it game the University of Tulsa the advantage in landing the tournament. In fact, TU was chosen to host the tournament even before the building was finished. More than 280 tennis players will take to the courts over the next two weeks.

The tournament is expected to draw thousands of spectators and generate millions for the Tulsa economy.

TU's tennis coach Vince Westbrook says you don't have to be an avid fan to enjoy the tournament. "You'll see the crowd gets a little crazy the players are really exciting to watch and with out scoreboard you'll be able to tell what's going on at all times."

The United States Tennis Association named the center as the best college facility in the country last year.
