KIEV, Ukraine (AP) _ Jonathan Horton wins the all-around title Saturday at a key men's gymnastics meet between the United States, Russia and Ukraine.

The victory for the Oklahoma standout offset the American team's third-place finish in the team competition.

Horton defeated 2007 European all-around champion Maxim Deviatovski of Russia for the individual title.

The meet was considered important because many of the best American men were there and it was a rare chance to compete in an international finals-style event, similar to what they'll face at world championships in August.

Last year, the U.S. finished 13th at worlds. This year, the team must finish in the top 12 in order to qualify a full team to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
