Tulsa’s mayor has given the okay for Tulsa Fire officials to dispatch a 25-member rescue team to Coffeyville, Kansas to help that community’s rescue response. Mayor Kathy Taylor says Coffeyville’s Fire Department requested the help.

Fire officials say the team will assist Coffeyville firefighters in local door-to-door search and rescue efforts caused by heavy rains and flooding in the area.

“Tulsa Firefighters always stand ready to answer the call,” said Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor. “I’m pleased that Tulsa has the trained professionals who are willing and able to step in to lead this effort.”

Twenty-five firefighters departed Tuesday morning. The team consists of 14 firefighters from the Tulsa Fire Department; 3 from Broken Arrow Fire Department; 3 from the Sand Springs Fire Department 2 from the Okmulgee Fire Department; 1 from the Muskogee Fire Department; 1 from Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District and 1 firefighter from OSU-FST.
