Oklahoma Firefighters Help Kansas Firefighters

Tulsaâ€™s mayor has given the okay for Tulsa Fire officials to dispatch a 25-member rescue team to Coffeyville, Kansas to help that communityâ€™s rescue response. Mayor Kathy Taylor says Coffeyvilleâ€™s Fire Department requested the help.

Fire officials say the team will assist Coffeyville firefighters in local door-to-door search and rescue efforts caused by heavy rains and flooding in the area.

â€œTulsa Firefighters always stand ready to answer the call,â€ said Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor. â€œIâ€™m pleased that Tulsa has the trained professionals who are willing and able to step in to lead this effort.â€

Twenty-five firefighters departed Tuesday morning. The team consists of 14 firefighters from the Tulsa Fire Department; 3 from Broken Arrow Fire Department; 3 from the Sand Springs Fire Department 2 from the Okmulgee Fire Department; 1 from the Muskogee Fire Department; 1 from Northwest Rogers County Fire Protection District and 1 firefighter from OSU-FST.
