SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews closed part of Interstate 40 in Sequoyah County Wednesday to repair a hole on a bridge. ODOT crews erected barricades about 7:56 a.m. Wednesday to fix the 4-foot gap.

Officials reopened the road at 2:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Department of Transportation crews narrowed three lanes of westbound I-40 down to one in downtown Oklahoma City after a hole was found in the road. Officials said the hole was caused by recent heavy rains and the highway's age.

It took about six hours before the lanes were accessible to traffic.
